1. Introduction
Hi, my name is Shanai Charlton- Taylor, and I'm an A2 Media Studies Student.
I used Weebly to create a website for my favourite artist J.Cole, which was our task during our introduction to A2. I did my research by looking at other artist website so I could identify a few codes and conventions, also to give myself and idea on layout. I used the colour scheme that best represented J.Cole, and showed synergy with his newest released album 'Forest Hill Drive'.

8. Previous Student Video
The past students videos I watched in the hall of fame were really good, but Emmanuel, Ariandna, Yuksel and Joshua's video was by far my favourite; they've re-created the song 'The other side'- Krept and Konan ft. Ari.
Genre: Hip Hop/Grime
The reason why this remake music video is my favourite, is because of their use of editing and interpretation of the lyrics. I like the way they became the artist as well as the characters telling the audience a story making it an illustrative music video. It brings out the real emotion of the song, and makes you thinks it the official music video rather than a remake.
The edits are the main reason why this remake is my favourite, at 0.23 seconds the use a fade out which separates the introduction to the character and scene before it gets to the song, which shows the audience the artist is the character also. I love the use of transitions especially at 1:16, 1:54, 3:09-3:18 and 3:57. It showed they put a lot of thought into it, and it also had an effect on the audience.
As well as the use of edits, I like the way they use camera movement, the un steady camera allows the audience to connect to the song and the camera is moving in time to the music, it also interprets the shaky emotion within the characters.

Previous student video
My favourite previous student music video has to be group 4 that did the krept and konan song. When I had first watched this video I was in shock because I couldn't believe that students had managed to create this. It seemed like something I would see on an urban uk music channel! I really like every aspect of it from the shots to the locations, the camera movement down to the outfits and props used. There are so many parts of the video that I find unique and which I think stand out for me.
Below is the video and I will be referring to my favourite parts according to the seconds they happen at
For example their transition shots were really nice, you can tell they though about how they were going to achieve this and the effects they would use. This can be seen at 01:16-01:18
Another thing that stood out for me was their camera movement its in time to the song and artists for example this can be seen at 03:30 through to 03.33
